SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The Pentagon’s latest UFO file release has drawn new attention to reports of unexplained aerial phenomena, also known as UAPs.

The latest drop includes videos, photos, and reports of UAPs that investigators say they still can’t fully explain.

“I’ll check them out,” Chris Denis, a Utah resident, said.

For some, the idea of alien life isn’t far-fetched.

“If there’s life here, there’s probably somewhere. The universe is pretty big,” Denis said.

And for at least one Utahn, the fascination comes from experience.

“I was biking home one time and I thought I saw, like, this UFO. This weird thing in the sky. It was, like, floating oddly,” Denis said.

UFO researcher Jim Quirk said the latest document release is significant.

“My impression is that it’s an impressive tranche that they released. I mean, you’re talking about 161 different files. There’s some videos, there’s some images, there’s a lot of documents,” Quirk said.

He said some of the released footage appears difficult to explain using current technology.

“Some of them are changing direction. They’re circular shapes, spherical shapes, moving in weird formations,” Quirk said.

The Pentagon has not said the files prove alien life exists, only that some sightings remain unidentified.

“It’s been mentioned by some people in Congress that this is only the beginning,” Quirk said.

Quirk said while the files don’t confirm extraterrestrial life, he believes the government is slowly moving toward greater transparency.

The Pentagon’s UFO website says new documents will be released over time as they are discovered and declassified.
