Has anyone here ever actually gone out to Area 51 to do any photography?

I know the f/stop will be high, but I used to live in the Mojave Desert when I was in the military and I know how blindingly bright it can be, so I'm thinking this might work.

  1. lol do you have macro spacers on there?

    Amazing

Ok, so the sunshade obviously gives more zoom, but I’m gonna pretend you’ve got 2 x 2x and 2×1.4 x magnifiers and out from

    600mm at f6.3
    To
    4,704mm @ f…50?

    Keep doing the lords work

  2. Tons of people have (not providing sources right now) but yes many people have especially in the mid 90s, the problem isn’t the desire or will, the problem is the land/boarders have been pushed back beyond the mountains and hills that had good visuals because of people getting good vantage points for photos… So it’s become harder to get up onto those vantage points that look down on the base.

With that said there are still people that try such as one commenter suggest, Uncanny Expeditions, his content is fantastic, there are a few other YouTubers that do similar content and there are older gallery’s of the base from other photographers of the late 80s/90s/early 2000s around.

  3. You should check out Uncanny Expeditions on YouTube. He frequently goes around various sites around Area 51 and uses a similar setup to get images and video of the base visible from some of the surrounding peaks from miles away.

  4. Um, yep. Lots and lots and lots of people have done this for decades.

Best shots seem to be from Tikaboo Peak which is 26 miles away, but is the closest legal place to view.

Any closer and you get a visit from the friendly fellows that have shoot to kill authorization.

  5. side note can I borrow this to see who’s coming to my house when my wife is alone, after I leave for work?

I keep getting whiffs of colognes I dont own when I get home, and she doesn’t want to hanky panky anymore
