I know that’s Saturn there in that picture, I took this on the 26th of December so Saturn was close to the moon. There’s no way that my phone could capture Saturn’s rings realistically with this zoom level and level of light pollution right? I assumed that was my iPhone doing some trickery enhancement thing, but if it really did somehow manage to capture the ring system that would be very cool! I wasn’t able to replicate the picture next night or even later that same night.

I’m sure you can’t capture Saturn’s rings with just a phone. That blotch you see is most certainly the Andromeda galaxy.
No. It’s probably an internal reflection.
No, definitely not. I’m not sure what caused that streak of light but with how far away Saturn is you would never ever be able to see it’s rings without magnification.
Saturn’s rings are completely side on, so this is something else.
You need to really zoom in to see them, that shot is not zoomed in enough as you say.
My guess is either movement, lens flaire, or AI enhancement on the phone.
No sorry it’s an artifact
why am I getting downvotes 😭I figured I didn’t, I was just curious what could’ve caused it
