■ The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC) are operating the ‘2021 Youth Space Science Journey’ from the 26th of this month to the 10th of next month on the science culture portal ‘Science All’ (www.scienceall.com). The journey is a board game-style program where participants learn by watching space-related video content and then taking quizzes. It offers 28 pieces of content, including 11 from Korea, 7 from the U.S., 6 from Europe, and 4 from Asia.

 

■ Lee Kyung-soo, Head of the Science and Technology Innovation Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, presided over a ‘Meeting to Gather On-site Opinions from the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Region’ at 2 p.m. on the 25th at the Busan Institute of Industrial Science & Innovation in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Fifteen representatives from industry, academia, research, and government participated in the meeting, including Kwon Soon-ki, President of Gyeongsang National University; Lee Jung-hwan, President of the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS); Seo Yong-cheol, President of the Busan Institute of Industrial Science & Innovation; and representatives from Hyundai Heavy Industries and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction. They discussed R&D investment for regional innovation and job creation.

 

■ The Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) will hold the ‘Inauguration Ceremony for the Clean Building Fuel Cell Council’ at 4 p.m. on the 26th at The-K Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The council, which brings together 43 companies, four government-funded research institutes, and eight universities, was established through the activities of KIER’s ‘Next-Generation Building Fuel Cell N-Lab’ industry-academia-research body. At the ceremony, Park Dal-young, CEO of Dong-A FuelCell and the pre-elected chairman of the council, will present the council’s vision, while Lee Han-woo, Director of the New and Renewable Energy Industry Department at the Korea Energy Agency (KEA), will give a presentation on supporting the revitalization of the fuel cell industry.
