There are two types of people in this world: people who watched The X-Files and rolled their eyes, and people who immediately started questioning every weird light they’ve ever seen in the Texas sky.
If you grew up loving alien documentaries and conspiracy theories, this latest Pentagon release is probably right up your alley. And lucky for you, because Texas appears in the files several times.
Pentagon Releases UFO Files With Texas Sightings
The Department of Defense released several declassified files connected to unidentified flying objects, now more commonly called UAPs.
The files include witness reports and incident summaries dating back decades, including multiple reports tied to Texas.

According to the Pentagon, the release was part of a push for transparency surrounding UFO and extraterrestrial investigations.
Abilene UFO Sighting Reported In 1948
One of the oldest Texas sightings in the files comes from Abilene in 1948.
According to the report, a man identified as Mr. A. Schroeder claimed he saw a bright blue-green bell-shaped object hovering in the western sky around 1:25 in the morning.
Not moving. Not blinking. Just sitting there. Which somehow feels creepier than a UFO flying across the sky.
NASA Houston Received A “Bogey” Report
One of the strangest Texas-related entries involves NASA’s Gemini 7 mission in 1965.
Astronaut Frank Borman contacted mission control in Houston after spotting what he described as a “bogey” alongside “hundreds of little particles” floating nearby during the mission.

NASA later clarified the objects were unidentified at the time.
The files also reference other reports connected to Texas, including a mysterious clipping tied to Yoakum from 1947.
Texas And UFO Stories Just Fit Together
Whether you believe in aliens or not, UFO stories feel weirdly perfect for Texas.
Maybe it’s the giant night skies. Maybe it’s the empty highways and desert landscapes. Or maybe every Texan has looked up at something strange at least once and thought:
“What WAS that?!”
Is the truth really out there?!
