A NASA astronaut spotted a UFO “bogey” during the Gemini VII mission back in 1965, with an air-to-ground recording featuring the moment of the encounter released on Friday by the Department of War.

The six-minute clip features Astronaut Frank Borman reporting to NASA mission control in Houston that he had sighted an unidentified object, referring to it as a “bogey.”

“This audio recording contains air to ground communications and the NASA Public Affairs audio feed with commentary, recorded during the flight of the Gemini VII mission,” the DOW wrote in the description of the audio on Friday.

“In this excerpted segment of audio, Astronaut Frank Borman reports to NASA mission control in Houston his sighting of an unidentified object, which he referred to as a ‘bogey.’ This sighting occurred on December 5, 1965,” it continued. “The dialogue includes Borman’s initial report, as well as additional comments by Astronaut Jim Lovell, Borman’s fellow crew member.”

“Showing control here again. Earlier in the flight, you’ll recall at the start of the second revolution, we had a reference to several objects that the crew spotted,” mission control can be heard saying in the tape. “This was in the area of Antigua. Due to a mechanical breakdown, we did not have that portion of the tape available for you. This was a line breakdown between Building 30 and our news center, Building 6.”

“Since then, we have dubbed the tape off the master tape here in the control center, and we are now prepared to play it for you. It contains references to sighting not only some particles, but as well as an unidentified object, plus the booster. Here’s that tape. We’ll play it for you now,” mission control continues.

“I’ve got a bogey at 10 o’clock high,” Borman can be heard saying after that.

“This is Houston. Say that again, 7,” mission control responds.

“I said, ‘We have a bogey at 10 o’clock high,’” Borman repeats.

“7, is that the booster, or is that an actual sighting?” mission control clarifies.

“We have several — looks like three up here — actual sightings,” Borman says.

“Do you have any more information — estimated distance or size?” mission control asks.

“We also have the booster in sights,” Borman says, with mission control clarifying that that’s what Borman said. “And we have very, very many, it looks like hundreds of little particles flying by from the left, out about three or four miles. … It looks like parts of a vehicle that disintegrated.”

The Trump administration finally released UFO files containing encounters with pilots on Friday — months after President Donald Trump teased their release and hinted at the existence of extraterrestrials.

Rep. Tim Burchett, a member of the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, reportedly said the release would occur on Friday during a West Wing meeting on Thursday.

“It’s going to start tomorrow,” Burchett told an independent journalist, who then shared the conversation with the New York Post. “It’s going to have some stuff in there from pilots, and maybe one video.”

The materials could relate to encounters between U.S. pilots on active duty and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), another term for UFOs.

The first release won’t include the 46 videos, the release of which was requested by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in a letter to the Department of Defense. But successive releases will be unveiled in weekly installments, a source told the publication.

Burchett lauded Trump as the “president of transparency and disclosure,” but he admitted that “transparency won’t all happen at once,” adding, “It will take some time.”

Trump directed federal agencies to release the files related to extraterrestrial life in February, teasing the unveiling of some “very interesting” UFO information just last week.

“We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t,” he said at a White House event celebrating NASA astronauts. “I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people.”

And last month, he told his supporters at a Turning Point USA event that the release of the files would begin “very, very soon,” emphasizing that the public would be able to “go out and see if that phenomena is correct” and “figure it out.”

But on Tuesday, former President Barack Obama suggested that the government likely doesn’t have any extraterrestrial lifeforms in custody, as some reports suggest it does.

“Here’s the thing — for those of you who still think that we’ve got little green men underground somewhere, one of the things you learn as president is the government is terrible at keeping secrets.”

He also addressed the conspiracy theory that the government is in possession of alien spaceships, stating, “I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend to impress her. There would be leaks.”

Obama went on to say that he believes he would be a good “emissary” should any extraterrestrial lifeforms make contact with the human race.

“I’ve got some experience at statecraft and diplomacy,” he joked. “I’m friendly.” But he emphasized that such an event “hasn’t happened yet.”
