Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg revisits the sci-fi genre in his newest movie, Disclosure Day, which is heading to theaters this summer. After teasing the look of the extraterrestrial invaders of the film in a previous teaser, new images have revealed a look at an alien spacecraft arriving on the planet.

The film, which imagines an alien invasion happening as everyone in the world is watching, is coming to theaters on June 12. As anticipation for Disclosure Day continues to build, new images have been released in a story published by Entertainment Weekly. One photo showcases what appears to be a UFO descending towards Earth’s surface as humans watch from below, offering the best look yet at the incoming invaders. Check out the picture along with the other sneak peek images below.

Josh O’Connor Says Disclosure Day Has That Steven Spielberg Vibe

Among the stars of the film is Josh O’Connor, who also spoke about his experience working on the movie with EW. He shared how he was drawn to the project as the script felt reminiscent of Spielberg’s past work, notably his sci-fi movies like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The actor also spoke about how it felt when he was on the set and it became very clear to him that he was involved in a Spielberg movie.

“Part of the reason I loved the script so much when I first read it is that I felt like I recognized some of his earlier work. And so hopefully that comes across,” O’Connor explains. “We’re in this sort of basement setting, and there was a sort of fog in the air and a massive light beam, and I was like, Holy s—, I’m in a Spielberg movie! And there are little notations to his visual style and to his past films where you just — you feel safe watching a Spielberg movie, I think.”

Will Disclosure Day Measure Up to E.T. and Jaws?

Teasing how Disclosure Day could be just as legendary as other Spielberg classics, O’Connor adds, “It’s up there, in my opinion. I think it was Emily [Blunt] who said recently that there are questions from Close Encounters that are answered in this film. I think that that’s true. It’s hard to put anything against those films because they’re so special. But I’m sure he is — and I am — very proud of the film.”

With Spielberg directing, the film was written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park) based on an original concept by Spielberg. It follows a whistle-blower (O’Connor) and a meteorologist (Blunt) as they attempt to reveal the truth about alien life to the entire world at once. The idea was to imagine how people on the planet would react if it was revealed undeniably that alien invaders were arriving on Earth, along with the various effects that would have on humankind.

Other stars of the movie include Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Michael Gaston.

Disclosure Day will be released in movie theaters on June 12, 2026.
