A new fast-casual burger restaurant just opened in Monmouth County, serving smash burgers, milkshakes, and homemade sauces.

Smash Bunz is located at 31 E. Main St. in downtown Freehold and fills a space previously occupied by a Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant’s menu also includes chicken sandwiches, vegetarian and vegan options, and wings. Signature sauces, marinades, and smash blends are made in-house daily, and all meat is halal.

Some highlights are the $12 Shroom Truffle Burger, the $10 Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and the $10 Vegetarian Cajun Potato Burger.

Smash Bunz also specializes in UFO Burgers, which are all served in closed brioche buns.

Sides include cheese fries, loaded fries, onion rings and coleslaw.

Wings are available in six to 24 pieces with flavors such as lemon pepper, buffalo, and peri-peri. Milkshakes come in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, salted caramel, and Oreo cookies and cream.

General manager Carlo Lutero said the location was chosen because there was no fast casual burger spot in downtown Freehold.

The restaurant seats 45 people indoors and 12–16 outdoors.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with plans to extend hours during the summer.
