The Greenville Lady Comets soccer team defeated Centralia at home Monday to improve its season record to 9-5.
The final score was 3-0 with goals by Emma Veith, Braelyn Andris and Selah Field. Ada Jefferson and Veith had assists. Maddie Beckert made 10 saves as the GHS goal keeper.
Monday’s victory was the fourth in a row.
April 13, the Lady Comets went to Jerseyville and won 1-0. Andris recorded the goal with Bailey Taylor getting the assist. In goal, Beckert made 6 saves.
The following day, the GHS girls recorded another 1-0 triumph, this time over Gillespie. Emma Veith was credited with the goal and Ryleigh Plannette had the assist.
Beckert had a busy game in goal, making 13 saves.
Two days later, the Lady Comets played a Hillsboro team that had beaten them earlier in the season. This time it took a shootout to determine the winner and the Lady Comets won.
Regulation time ended 1-1 with Taylor getting the GHS goal. Greenville won the shootout 3-2. Beckert came up with 14 saves as the goal keeper.
The Lady Comets play at Litchfield Thursday and go to Mt. Vernon Friday.
