This is a wide field of NGC 6888, WR 134 and other nebulosity from Cygnus taken in September of 2025. This was taken with a ZWO ASI533MC Pro and three 2” filters attached to a Samyang 135mm lens. The filters were:
* Optolong L-Enhance (Ha-OIII)
* Askar ColorMagic D2 (SII-OIII) and
* Optolong UV/IR Cut filter
I used Siril to process the photo and attempted to mimic a SHO Palette. There was a little bit of final adjusting using GIMP. It took me a long time to figure out the processing workflow. Thankfully, Siril has been adding python scripts which help relative beginners like me.
I feel like I have improved significantly since I started this hobby. Of course it helps the Samyang 135 is a better piece of equipment than my 60/360 Doublet. I hope you like it.
Capture details below:
Samyang 135 f/2 lens
ZWO ASI533MC Pro
Optolong L-Extreme Filter (Ha-OIII): ~9 hours
Askar Color Magic SII-OIII: ~7.5 hours
Optolong UV/IR Cut filter: ~1 hour
Skywatcher Star Adventurer GTi
Apertura 32mm Guide scope
ZWO ASI120mm Guide Camera
ZWO ASIAir Mini
ZWO EAF
For Siril processing:
– I used the OSC Ha/OIII script twice, once on the Optolong filter data and a second time on the Askar filter data
– I used the standard processing script on the UV/IR data
– After renaming the narrowband files to avoid confusion, I aligned and registered the files then combined them using pixel math.
– I struggled with recombining the stars from UV/IR with the narrowband images so after about 10 failures, I decided to reregister and align stars on everything and then do basic pre-processing to have a single file with a bunch of stacking artifacts. This involved aligning everything first, then removing stars from combined narrowband and inserting stars from UV/IR.
– I then did cropping, background extraction, color calibration and green noise reduction.
– I then, once again, removed stars (now that I have done this, I will probably adjust my workflow so I am simplifying redundant steps)
– I ran the python script “Hubble Palette from dual narrowband filters” and set it to SHO Classic
– Stretching
– recombined starless and star mask
– transferred to GIMP to adjust some colors and reduce the brightness of the image
