On August 7, 1970, in the village of Saladare near Asmara, Ethiopia, a red glowing ball was reported to have swept through the village, causing significant destruction. The object destroyed houses, uprooted trees, burned grass, melted asphalt, and broke stones in a bridge. It traveled 150 meters, paused, and then reversed its course, causing further damage. The total flight distance was three kilometers, and the flight time was ten minutes. Fifty buildings were damaged, eight people were injured, and a child died.
