I think people like Shermer can show some good faith and start publicly supporting legislation like the UAP Disclosure Act, to show that he actually supports disclosure of the evidence he keeps asking for.

He’s using an apology as a vehicle for self promotion. These people are pathetic.

  3. Shermer is one of those people who, the more I listened to him, the less I liked him, until I finally just stopped paying attention to anything he had to say.

  4. Who is this guy? I saw him a while back and he was throwing the basic “ya but the speed of light, phone cameras” argument so I bailed. If you’re still at that stage, youre not going to be convinced of anything.

But hey it seems with time buddy was sucked into it.

Could be because that’s where the moneys at right now. Even Curt J on TOE has his highest views when he discusses this topic.

Regardless, I like that the idea is being discussed. We once thought planets were ultra rare, specially earth like, saying otherwise was taboo but now? We know they’re everywhere.

    Same will happen with NHI

Not really an apology (although he says it is), more restating that Grusch has not provided proof for what he is saying, with a little sprinkle of “buy my book” at the end.

  6. Like seriously. What did he EVER bring to the table? Its a disgrace that Scientific American ever gave him a page to write his bs. Like, wtf is being a skeptict even mean as a stock opinion…

  7. It’s called fair-weather faces. When he thought everyone was going to call him a crackpot he didn’t want no part of it. now that people are on board he wants to be popular

Yep, only apologizing because he’s hoping for more airtime in which he can constantly reference and plug his new book. Pathetic.

I truly believe this to be exactly what we wanted from disclosure efforts (apart from an actual alien speaking at the UN) a former opponent becoming an ally.

It’s such a non-authentic apology. If I was Grusch I would smile tell that guy to piss off.

I wouldn’t really even call that an apology. He slid in that it was an extraordinary claim with 0 evidence, which is misleading. There is evidence

  12. This guy is a debunker of anything outside of standard science. And he mocks people. I think non-believers can be on this committee, but he may be too extreme and not open to anything extraordinary. He obviously wants to be on it, but is this like a juror who wants to be on a trial for the wrong reasons?

I don’t know anything about this man, but yet he has been appointed to be a part of the UAP Science Advisory Council and he STILL thinks that aliens aren’t real??? Who chose this man? I believe this grouping of people was created to just stall everything, once more. The government doesn’t want true disclosure.

This is going to be a shitshow when Avi Loeb is already throwing shade on Beatriz Villarroel’s work from the get go

  15. I’ve commented to Michael Shermer on several occasions that he should be demanding further investigation/disclosure based on his skepticism. Haven’t seen him doing anything of the sort. Now he’s on an advisory panel!? It’s like putting an Atheist in charge of the Church.
