Cold Iron Studios has today revealed an expanded sequel to Aliens: Fireteam Elite that increases the co-op player count to four, bundles in many more Xenomorphs, and releases as a current-gen only game. It’s out in the summer 2026 window, and you can catch your first glimpse of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 in the trailer above.

The follow-up is pitched as being bigger and better in every way: “With deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 delivers the definitive co-op Aliens experience,” reads the press release.

Compared to the first PS5, PS4 title, we’re looking at the following in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2:

Expansion from three-player to four-player co-op
Deeper team-based mechanics
New and improved character classes
New Xenomorphs
Deeper weapon and gear customisation
A new Specialist class

The sequel is building on solid foundations, which we awarded a 6/10 to at the time. “It’s a fun squad shooter with just about enough features at launch to keep you coming back to replay missions and tackle the horde mode,” we said at its release. Since then, the title has been improved with an expansion and new progression systems.
