For decades, people all across the globe have been interested in unidentified flying objects, unexplained aerial phenomena, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Now, it sounds like there might be some real answers coming from the United States government.

During a recent interview with Fox News personality Sean Hannity on his podcast, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the government is working toward the release of UFO-related government files.

Files Coming ‘Very Soon’

Back in February, United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order instructing government agencies to release records on unidentified aerial phenomena and extraterrestrial life.

Since that order, no such documents have been made public. However, Patel says that the process is now well underway.

“[Trump] stood up an interagency process with the Department of War leading that effort to get out the documentation,” Patel said on the podcast.

In fact, Patel said that the release of this information could be coming “very soon,” adding that the documents have already been delivered and are set to be released.

“They’re going to be publicly releasing this information very soon. We are all for it,” he added on the podcast.

“President Trump listens to what the American public has an interest in,” Patel said.

“He’s got to do a million different things at once, and he still has the time to say, ‘Stand up an organization, the American public wants a document.’ We’ve already delivered the documents, they’re coming out — that’s it.”

A Years-Long Push

The release of these files has been years in the making. Back in 2023, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle pushed for the Department of Defense to declassify certain “records relating to publicly known sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).” However, those provisions were left out of a defense bill.

“We got totally ripped off. We got completely hosed. They stripped out every part,” the Tennessee Republican congressman Tim Burchett said of the bill, according to the New York Times.

The Democratic Senate leader, Chuck Schumer, called it “an outrage” that the House had refused to incorporate the proposal.

“It means that declassification of UAP records will be largely up to the same entities that have blocked and obfuscated their disclosure for decades,” Schumer said.

Needless to say, if this information is finally released, it would be a bipartisan win.
