I’ll be happy if they say they aliens are real, and have visited earth. That’s a good first step for me.

I see two problems with this.
First, because the RD classification is about stopping the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the scope of what can be classified under the AEA is limited to three topics of weapons-related information:
1. Information about the design, manufacture or use of nuclear weapons;
2. Information about how to produce special nuclear material (SNM) (i.e., the fissile isotopes of uranium and plutonium used to produce a nuclear explosion); and
3. Information about how SNM can be used to produce nuclear power.
The AEA does not give DOE a blanket authority to classify anything it wants.
Second, even though the AEA specifies a process for declassifying RD that differs from that in EO 13526, the Secretary of Energy works for the president and serves at his pleasure. Functionally, there’s no difference between the president directly ordering something declassified under EO 13526 and ordering DOE to declassify something under the AEA. Secretaries are political appointees and can be fired for insubordination if they say “no,” and replaced with someone who would say “yes.”
So Trump can override all types of laws, and requirements, but he’s NOT going to release all things Alien….how could we ever think this was gonna be fulfilling.
Trump has no power over the AEC structure as outlined at the time link above.
