We had this era called the Dark Ages when knowledge of other humanoid (human but super hairy like the dogmen, or just friggin huge, and various others in between) was actively suppressed or vilified and systematically eradicated by the powers that be. These practices have carried on over time through various means.

Just like the great plains region of North America had mountain lions and plains cats bigger than cougars and slightly smaller than African lions, there was a time when giants roamed.

There’s stories in depictions all around the globe, and ancient texts from all across the globe, including the old testament (whatever version), the eddas, Mayan, Egyptian, Sumerian, etc…

But, just like the mountain lions or sabertooth or any number of other extinct beings the giants of ancient times no longer roam these lands.
