Formed in 2023, Spinning Lights is a “power-trio” that navigates the intersection of cosmic wonder and grounded skepticism. Comprised of Piers Chamberlain (guitars/vocals), Kirsty Keys (bass/backing vocals), and Harry Hines (drums), the group delivers a sound that is as intellectually sharp as it is sonically expansive.
Following their 2024 debut single, Terrace Tunnel, (an homage to their hometown), the trio is today releasing their latest track, Aliens. This new offering serves as a bridge to their highly anticipated debut album, scheduled for release in the coming months.
Combining a high-energy rhythm section with a phased, guitar-driven melody line, the track offers a visceral look at the bittersweet transition into adulthood. While the lyrics present the imagery of a classic sci-fi abduction, the heart of the song is grounded in reality. Aliens explores the emotional disconnect of leaving home.
“It’s a coming-of-age story disguised as a space odyssey.”
While the band harbours a secret desire to believe in the supernatural, they find far more intrigue in the human tendency to embrace mysticism over reality. For Spinning Lights, the universe doesn’t need magic to be breathtaking. The raw truth is more than enough. Case in point – music itself has incredible power to move people physically and emotionally.
