I’ve been going down a bit of a rabbit hole recently about out-of-body experiences, and I’m honestly not sure what to think. Some people describe it as literally floating above their body and seeing themselves from the outside, which sounds crazy, but also weirdly specific.

I came across Robert Monroe and some of the stuff he wrote about it, and what stood out to me is how detailed and consistent these experiences seem across different people.

I also found this breakdown that goes into his experiences and the whole idea behind OBEs, which I thought was pretty interesting:

At the same time, I’ve seen people say it’s just the brain doing something strange during sleep or stress, which also makes sense.

I’m just curious if anyone here has actually experienced something like this, or looked into it more seriously. What did it feel like, and what do you think it actually is?

  1. I’ve used the tapes on and off for a few years now. I’ve had some really weird experiences and became a better person through it. Im definitely not an expert but I’ve seen enough to believe we are more than just physical bodies. It wasn’t one thing that convinced me but a serious of experiences that piled up. It’s very easy to dismiss someone else’s experience which is why everyone should go look for themselves. I think that seeking understanding and self-improvement is the point of it all.
