I’ve always been fascinated with the sky, so I take a lot of photos and videos.

Today I recorded the sun using my window tint as a filter, with the exposure turned all the way down, and with just the right amount of clouds. In the video it looks like dark spots are forming and disappearing on the sun, almost like sunspots.

Has anyone seen this before or know what could cause it? I’m honestly surprised an iPhone 16 Pro Max could even pick up anything like that, and it doesn’t look like a normal video artifact to me.

  1. Sun spots are easily picked up by phone cameras since they can be extremely large and give out a lot of infrared light. They can also sometimes be seen with the naked eye during sunsets. You definitely captured sunspots.
