Here’s my longest project yet. I spent the last autumn imaging the Andromeda Galaxy. 🌌

18,4 hours of exposure time under Bortle 3-5 skies in Finland. 🇫🇮

The original image is 26 megapixels and I’ve included a few crops that show some of the most interesting details.

  1. How many nights did this take, given that M31 is a summer object and nights are short in Finland during summer?

    You can see dwarf galaxy M110 to the right of Andromeda.

    You can see dwarf galaxy M32 to the left near Andromeda’s center region. M32 contains supermassive black hole in its center region.
