Are these claims really true? Does anyone know what really happened to Gary McKinnon, better known as SOLO, and was he real or just a hoax?

Gary McKinnon is entirely real, it was a bit of a *cause celebre* for a while. He never was extradited in the end (the British government took the view that they weren’t going to hand him over when the US government was so plainly eager to make an example of him – it was shortly after the ‘extraordinary rendition’ scandal – especially when the whole thing was due to sheer incompetence on the Pentagon’s part), and Theresa May eventually managed to get the charges dropped some years later.

Whether the files he saw really were what he thought they were is another question.
