This is a protostellar jet (a Herbig–Haro object).
A newly forming star ejects streams of matter at hundreds of km/s, creating shock waves as the jet slams into surrounding gas.
The glowing structures are caused by shock-heated hydrogen and sulfur, not light beams.
Space really does special effects better than movies.
