A very interesting and insightful article from Pyschology Today on recent events regarding UAP disclosure and people’s attitudes towards it.
It also mentions the ‘Age of Disclosure’
Here is just the introduction –
>Something very significant has been happening in plain sight, and almost no one seems to be noticing.
>Over the past few years, there have been televised congressional hearings, repeated news segments across major networks, and a recent release of a mind blowing documentary called *The Age of Disclosure* that brings much of this information together, featuring on-the-record disclosures and sworn testimony from dozens of current and former high-level U.S. government, military, and intelligence officials describing secret classified government programs tasked with investigating unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs). These officials describe large numbers of sightings of unexplained aircraft, recovered crash materials they say are not consistent with known human technology, and the remains of non-human biologics. All of this points to the same unsettling idea: Mankind is not alone in the universe.
>If this were any other topic with implications this big, it would dominate conversations. It would be debated at dinner tables, and dissected and argued about endlessly by pundits and influencers online.
>Instead, people seem to be oddly quiet about it altogether.
>For many people, even if they hear it, the information barely seems to register, while others just reject it or don’t engage at all. From a psychological standpoint, the collective lack of interest is almost more interesting than the claims themselves.
>The question is, why is what is possibly mankind’s greatest discovery barely on most people’s radar?

I think the general public wants irrefutable, conclusive and clear proof. Hearings, news segments and testimonies of high-level officials are not good enough. Is it frustrating? Yes. But it is what it is.

My input: if MSM isn’t seriously pushing this story, then the general public won’t accept it.

This is because the U.S. have been suppressing Aliens forever. They don’t want us to know they exist. Once the people find out truth there will be outrage for the lies. So they make it hard for us to focus on anything but survival. It’s a control tactic. We are living in modern day slavery. It’s time to wake up! Good Post OP!

I think the biggest reason is that the “brain has limited bandwidth,” as the article puts it. Aliens are being covered up by governments all over the world. Are the aliens going to pay for my groceries? Are they going to pay my rent? Do I still have to go to work in the morning? Are they going to change literally anything about my day to day life? No? Then who cares?
Honestly, this is probably WHY we’re hearing about things now. If the powers that be are so concerned about mass panic or whatever, then releasing information during a time when people don’t have the capacity to worry about it makes sense.

I broadly think the general public has been, by design, pushed towards being much more self-interested than we used to be. Everyone is worrying about themselves, or what other people think of them.
The news cycle, constantly bombarded with advertising, attention span reducing media clips, losing the feeling of community with our neighbours. It’s all intended to be easier to control us.
By-product of that is desensitizing to the fantastic. Aliens exist? Why should we care? Government using recovered tech in secret programs? Hah, classic shady government.
Ecksist on
I’d say it’s because we all already know that this is real. We’ve known for at least a century, but there’s never been a tangible outcome related to it. You can see how quickly our technology developed in a century and deduce that alien tech is involved but no proof.
We’ve seen countless books, films, shows and basically feel like we already understand everything about them, just no mass in person experience.
That’s what we need to be “shocked”, we need to see and hear real fuckin aliens. No one really cares until that happens.
Another factor is we’re so conditioned to not believe the government that we assume aliens are another lie until proven otherwise.

People are too busy surviving to actually care about anything else. This includes aliens, art, theater, movies w.e. If you are surviving and barely scraping by then why would you care about looking up when all you can do is keep your head down and grind. If it dosent affect people’s lives in a direct way then nobody will give a shit. Even if it is disclosed. Nobody cares. Great there’s a great alien zulu and he made us in his image and they are the puppet masters and we are human batteries for their consumption…awesome. Now watch me clock in 8 hours at McDonald’s.

This is like asking why mobs of Americans aren’t flooding the streets screaming for national high-speed rail or more stringent meat processing standards. The issue isn’t on most people’s radar when they’re just trying to get through the day, keep their jobs, buy food for their kids, and come out a dollar ahead. It’s not a brainwashing conspiracy to “keep the sheeple in the dark,” etc. It’s just life priorities in uncertain times.

My daughter came from Uni to spend Christmas with us.
My wife (her mother) told her that we bought the age of disclosure, so if she wants to have a look, it’s there.
her reply was ” Are you serisously into this nonsense? ”
So yeah, people need hard evidence.

Some people don’t want to know because the very possibility is scary.
Some people will never accept it because they believe the Bible is 100% true and they believe we didn’t evolve and Adam and Eve is a true story.
Some people are just trying to get by, day to day, and that takes everything they have.
It’s not complicated at all to understand the “Why is no one talking about the aliens?”

I never believed the ‘destabilised society argument’ much. I think people are generally not greatly affected by news that does not directly and immediately impact their practical, concrete lives. I think there’s a specific kind of bias at work here that I call ‘semiotic saturation’: aliens and UFOs have saturated our culture, particularly pop culture, to the extent that anything associated with this topic is seen as unworthy of respect. It’s less about insights into our universe and more about the question, ‘What kind of person am I if I give credit to this news? I don’t want to be associated with those people — I am a no-nonsense, reliable adult’.
oldwisenone on
It’s part of the multi decade disclosure roll out. Media and culture have been sprinkled with alien info for years in order to soften the existential crisis blow of we are not alone. If you polled people on the street with the question of “are you surprised that the world governments have fully admitted alien activity?” People would say no and carry in with their life. It won’t be until the media cycle gets fully engaged like during COVID or the war in Ukraine that people will be considered or overtly interested in the topic. Too many people wait until the media machine tells them how to feel.

The long histories of hoaxes, crazy people and official policies of discrediting and ridicule also play a big role. And while it seems impressive that so many alleged insiders are coming forward, there is no other evidence presented usually.
That along with the fact that it at present it is some of the most anti-science elected officials leading the charge (with notable exceptions). If they weren’t a bunch of anti-vaxx, climate change deniers etc, I would pay more attention.

We all know it to be true, deep down the math is irrefutable. We’ve all looked up at the stars and seen the wonder and amazement and recognized there is *no possible way* that we are alone in the universe.
Societally we’ve experienced 80 years or more of USG disinformation campaigns, Hollywood fear mongering, institutionalized mockery, and a distinct unfamiliarity with any phenomenon or high strangeness.
Everyone cares about this I’m sure of it. But I think we are experiencing that collective deep inhale before the other shoe drops, that’s what the silence is. We are all desperately waiting for the reveal like a series finale of a long running TV show.
People arent actively talking about it the hearings and such probably because they are tired of the edging. They dont need to be prepped for disclosure anymore. They are there. And irritated that it is taking this long.
So with that in mind, and then all the other bullshit going on in the world economically and politically, i think this is why people are blasie about it, they know the government is covering up, they have a stressful life they have to focus on so pretty much a significant portion of the population is at, “yes, we know that, tell us the rest of the stuff, shit or get off the pot already” mentality.
