I’m not a big astronomy guy, but I noticed this blinking star up in the sky. That definitely wasn’t a plane. Does the star have a name? (Taken from the Santa Clarita area.)

  1. It sounds like you’re seeing Sirius in the constellation canis major when it’s low on the horizon. It can boil and flicker quite wildly showing red, green and even blue colors. It’s also the brightest star in our nighttime sky. As it gets higher than about 20° above the horizon it will settle and not flicker so wildly and show a bluish white.
