Picked up a Celestron 8SE off Facebook Marketplace last week and ordered an adapter to mount my 10-year-old Canon Rebel T3. Tonight was the first clear sky since then, so I finally got to try everything out.

Tonight was my first time ever using:
-CPWI (mount control)
-BackyardEOS (capture)
-Siril (stacking + processing)

Captured 250ish frames and stacked them. I know it’s nothing compared to most of the insane images you guys post, but I’m honestly proud of this first step. Seeing the bands pop out after stacking blew my mind.

Safe to say I’m absolutely hooked now — can’t wait to upgrade the setup and keep learning.

  1. Settings were 1/60, 200ISO, f6.3 focal reducer, planetary mode 5x zoom on backyard EOS. no wedge/eq mount.
