I think one of the reasons why some people like to deny the moon landing is because it unambiguously proves the nature of the Earth and the Moon and the Sun and how our solar system works in certain fundamental ways.
They would prefer to believe in a reality that potentially doesn’t evolve any of that, like being under the great dome of the firmament where gods and psychic energies can hold sway and our consciousness doesn’t have to end when our brain stops working
