WORKINGTON edged out Scunthorpe 46-44 in a last-heat decider at the GT Tyres Arena to put their first Cab Direct Championship points of the season on the board.
The Scorpions required a 5-1 from Heat 15 to snatch a draw, but whilst skipper Josh Pickering completed a paid maximum, Jonas Jeppesen took the crucial second place for the Comets ahead of Luke Harrison.
Jeppesen scored 13 points from six outings as he bounced back from a last place in Heat 1, whilst Tate Zischke (11+2) and Troy Batchelor (11+1) also reached double figures for the hosts.
Pickering led the visitors’ scoring with 14+1 whilst Harrison totalled nine.
