4chan infamous alien photo. Shut down the site.

Yip, I wasn’t on 4Chan though, was browsing new on r/conspiracy and a post came up saying it had just happened and then r/conspiracy went down. No pictures were ever posted there and I’ve never seen the original from 4Chan just one someone recreated, alien to LHS of screen up close with a desert background. Not the usual grey or reptilian either, they stated it looked evil. Noticed r/conspiracy dried up after that, used to be hundreds of new posts a day, dropped to maybe 10-15 and quickly turned Qanon. I might be mistaken but this was before it was banned from popular.

Picture metadata is clearly on internet blacklist, you wont find the original(windows might even delete it from ur pc) and there been so much muddying afterwards that u wont know if its fake or real.

I could spend like 6 minutes making my own camera just from the items I find in my refrigerator, and I could still take better photos than this.

Gimme a 24mb jpg with Metadata, otherwise this is just nonsense.

I mean, how badly do you have to take the photos to make them this terrible in 2026?

This is not even the slightest bit convincing..

Everyone on the planet has a smartphone, but somehow the guy who meets the alien is walking around with a water damaged 50-year-old disposable camera and shaky hands like Michael J Fox.

But they don’t look even look remotely authentic.

This has been posted numerous times, but from what I remember, the people who claimed they saw the original image said this wasn’t actually it. I think this version started circulating again last year across multiple related subs/forums. The descriptions from those who allegedly saw the real image were very different.

A lot of them described it as having a very sickly, almost diseased appearance – extremely worn/dry-looking skin, with the head turned slightly to one side. That’s partly why some people believed it was either a close-up TV capture or even some kind of accidental “alien selfie” image. I still haven’t seen anyone confidently say that any of the reposted versions are the exact image they remember seeing.

As for the whole “4chan shutdown” story, I remember there being two explanations floating around. One was that the site genuinely had technical issues around the same time the image was posted, which naturally fueled conspiracy theories that the outage was connected. The other explanation was that it was basically an opportunistic prank/troll narrative that snowballed because the timing lined up too perfectly.

Adding to this, people who claimed they saw the original image described having a deeply negative reaction to it. Not just “creeped out” but genuinely unsettled in a hard-to-explain way.

I was in the thread after the site went up again. I have not seen the picture. Many people who have supposedly saved the picture reported that it was deleted from their own PC. Another strange thing was that the fake pictures came extremely fast and that the fakes were not totally bad quick rush jobs. It was definitely a group effort. After a very short amount of time you had like 50 fake images. Even for 4chan it was super fast. Except for the 3rd pic I remember OP´s pictures from that time. Cant say they were in that first thread but I believe they were. It was 2017. The one they pushed the most was the one with the statue alien from x-files (I believe) with the “digital” artifacts and mistakes on it. It was supposedly rescued before deletion, something like that. But it was quickly found as fake.

i saw the original image a few years back i’m pretty sure, closer to 4 and 2 (blurred edited eyes but further from the camera) if my memory serves me right. I’m very sceptical about stuff like this but i find it intriguing how the only images up are merely recreations of the original

Another detail i remember is it being really clear and sharp, which lead me to believe it was just a composite in blender or something, nothing like any of the images here

This gets posted all the time (I even talked about it once) and I’m not sure there is anything new to say.

My opinion was/is that this wasn’t a real photo of an escaped alien or anything, and was likely just a larp/prank that took on a life of its own. Though it also *might* have been a real intelligence operation in narrative control and leak prevention.

Think about it, what better way to test out how easily leaked information can spread and then be buried or subverted via takedown requests, counter intelligence and other means, than a picture of an alien that gets a few people who saw it hyped haha. It wouldn’t surprise me if this event did happen, but that the actual purpose was to test these systems.
