I’ve been trying to understand this topic properly instead of blindly believing or dismissing it.
Sadhġuru refers to “solid mercury” in relation to certain yogic/ancient traditions, but I haven’t found clear technical explanations about the exact chemical composition or process involved.
From what I understand, pure elemental mercury normally remains liquid at room temperature. At the same time, mercury can be processed into solid or hardened forms through known chemical compounds and amalgams involving sulfur and other metals.
So I’m curious what people here think is actually happening in these demonstrations and traditions.
Is it known metallurgy/alchemy being presented spiritually or something else?

He’s either using gallium or copper amalgam alloy
No way dude’s touching a fucking toxin
r/chemistry may have the answers you seek.
The guy is a conman, most likely a hoax
The attitude will always be ‘Europe says its not possible. So he’s scamming or just a conman.’
Sadhguru in this video:
>yogis and siddhas have always consumed mercury
AI meanwhile:
>⚠️ **Standard Disclaimer:** If anyone ever does swallow mercury, it is still considered a medical emergency because of the inhalation risk and the potential for complications. You should immediately contact Poison Control or seek emergency medical care.
So then, what data points to trust eh?
Maybe they mix it with some sort of clay?
Here is a dude making solid mercury at room temperature that looks and behaves just like the stuff in your video.

The trick? Mix the mercury with another metal that can be solid at room temperature. In this case he basically mixed it with like copper powder.
I mean think about another context, i.e. I like to use dehydrated peanut butter. Water is a liquid at room temperature, but when I mix it with the dehydrated peanut butter it gains the consistency of normal peanut butter.
Alumininum foil
It’s been treated with an Ayurvedic practice so yes it is fine to handle.
Looks like a turd in aluminium foil,
Mercury solidifies at -38C, so that’s definitely not it. And even if it was, not a good idea to touch it with bare hands.
Why couldn’t that be butter or clay or some such with a metallic pigment mixed in?
I saw an add for some special edition peanut butter that same color.
Taoist alchemists used to make longevity potions containing Mercury. They weren’t very effective.
His obedient wife sitting next to him silently while he makes those (not mercury) silver turd bars is sending me. She doesn’t even look mildly impressed.
please just let them consume mercury in peace
Wasn’t there some Chinese tomb buried some where surrounded by liquid mercury?
It’s a copper plate. It will be cooled and solidify which ever metal he is using.
I don’t think anyone can say for sure from just this clip but Occam’s razor would suggest a thousand simple explanations.
1. Not mercury. 2. Not even metal. Just painted or silver clay. 3. A similar metal. And many many more.
I mean, I’d like to see them actually transmute liquid mercury into this solid and then eat it. But all I see is them kneading dough that looks silvery. Actually looks like clay to be honest. Then I’d love to see them turn it back into liquid mercury.
And why do they do this? What use is there in this at all? And if true, would scientists not be studying the shit out of this and trying to recreate it?
The Amazing Randy, we need you more than ever. Come back!
No gloves?!
gallium
In Catholic Church the little wafer is turned into the BODY OF CHRIST with some words and bell jingles.
It’s a normal practice, there’s a whole multi day ritual of rudrabhishek where priests and host make shivling (shiva idols) with parad (the solidified mercury amalgam) and consecrate it for worship.
There’s a video by praveen mohan on youtube showing the whole process of solidifying mercury amalgam

Pretty sure you can safepy touch mercury under the right circumstances. Cody’s Lab has touched it several times in videos over the years
The secret: Simply mix the mercury with ground cashews, sugar syrup, some Ghee, and a very small amount of Cardamom and there you have solid mercury, and it makes a delicious mercury mithai.
Even if it were real, what a dumb “miracle” to show off. If you have magic powers, maybe demonstrate something that could actually be useful and doesn’t require a lengthy technical explanation to your audience. Like, bring a creature back to life or levitate a can of soda across the room.
Mercury poisoning, that’s what’s happening.
That’s the moment he got cancer.
From what I understand mercury lingam is a mercury-sulfur alloy
…It’s not mercury. There you go, mystery solved
if you add Cornstarch, Garam Masala, Curry and ground Cashew you make an amazing paste for nice Curry.
Definitely not mercury.
Bare hands?! Must be solidified mercury!
its gallium or indium

He is fake ass guru. Everything he does is for his PR.
“I can do miracles but instead of helping a blind boy see again I’m just gonna roll this quicksilver into dongs”.
Yeah I have my doubts. Would he be willing to do the same with mercury brought in from an outside source? Or go into some real details other than “trust me. Its just ancient Indian alchemy”?
Reminds me of that…. what was it called? ‘Liquid starlight’?
Crook.
Plain and simple.
