It’s been a stellar season for the Greenville Lady Comets softball team and now the girls will have a chance to claim a regional championship.
The Lady Comets defeated Staunton on Wednesday, 6-0 over Staunton in a semifinal contest at the Vandalia Class 2A Regional. They scored three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth.
In the other semifinal game, Olney Richland County blew past Hillsboro 9-0.
That sets up a Greenville-Olney matchup for the regional crown. The game will be played Friday at 4 p.m. in Vandalia.
The Lady Comets, seeded number one, enter the contest with a 25-6 record.
The champion plays Tuesday, May 26 at 4:30 p.m. in the Nashville Sectional.
