CONRAD/UNION – Union’s boys and girls golf teams competed in BCLUW’s Comet Invite on Monday, May 4, with the boys playing in Conrad and the girls in Union (Iowa).
The boys team played well throughout with many players shooting their career-best rounds. Two of them were sophomore Nash Schmitz and senior Brock Bergmeier who both shot rounds of 76 and finished second and third, respectively, behind Hudson’s Blake Delagardelle who led the meet with a 75.
Our boys team shot an impressive 320 which on a normal day would likely win the meet but was only good enough for fourth place and the playing conditions were ideal.
Boys team scores: BCLUW 315, Roland Story 317, Hudson 319, Union 320, AGWSR 342, South Hardin 346, East Marshall 350, and North Tama 357.
On the girls side the conditions were very windy throughout the day as the course at the South Hardin Rec Center is exposed throughout. Freshman Mia Michael helped lead our team to a respectable third place finish by shooting a 104 and placing fifth at the meet overall.
