Greenville Comets Head Baseball Coach Todd Hutchinson is going out as a conference champion!

Monday afternoon, his team defeated North Mac to claim sole possession of the South Central Conference title, finishing 9-0 in league play.

The final score was 10-0 with Rowdy Sussenbach earning the pitching win.  He gave up just one hit and struck out 13.

Comets banging out two hits apiece included Drake Curry, Dayton Oliver,  Dominic Sanchez, Cannon Hamel and Brock Riedemann.

Trey Melton and Sussenbach also hit safely.

Last Friday, the Comets notched their eighth SCC win, but it wasn’t easy.   In the seventh inning, Sanchez drove in Curry for a 5-4 victory over Southwestern Piasa.

Oliver produced three hits and drove in a run.  Riedemann  had two hits and two RBIs.

Christian Swalley was the winning pitcher.

The Comets had an 18-7 overall record after the win over North Mac.  This is the final season for Coach Hutchinson as head coach, as he has over 700 wins in his long career at GHS.
