UFO Files Latest Update: The US government has released one of the biggest-ever collections of classified UFO-related documents, revealing decades of unexplained aerial sightings reported by astronauts, military pilots, intelligence agencies and civilians worldwide.

The Pentagon disclosure, ordered after a transparency push by US President Donald Trump, includes more than 160 declassified records, videos, images and eyewitness accounts connected to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs.

Officials clarified that the files do not confirm extraterrestrial life or alien contact. However, many incidents remain officially “unresolved” because investigators could not identify the objects or explain their unusual movements.

A 1966 memo referenced reports of metallic objects interfering with electronic systems and moving at extraordinary speeds. Some witnesses also claimed to have seen small humanoid figures described as around four feet tall near unidentified craft, though officials stressed the accounts remain unverified.

The files also mentioned a glowing “eight-pointed star-shaped” object seen in military footage that investigators could not identify conclusively.

UFO Files: Pentagon Releases Hundreds of Unexplained UFO Reports

The Pentagon uploaded the files to a new public disclosure portal as part of a broader transparency initiative on UAP investigations. The archive includes military infrared footage, FBI memos, NASA transcripts, radar tracking data and witness testimonies dating from the 1940s to 2026.

Several files document mysterious sightings over Iraq, Syria, the East China Sea, the Mediterranean and North America. Military personnel described glowing orbs, metallic discs and objects making sharp turns at speeds difficult to explain with known aircraft technology.

Did UFO Files Reveal Anything About ‘Area 51’?

The newly released files did not reveal any direct evidence connecting UFO sightings to Area 51 or extraterrestrial activity inside the secretive military base.

However, Area 51 again became part of public discussion after several older government records referenced how classified military aircraft programmes in the region may have contributed to UFO rumours during the Cold War era.

The CIA had previously acknowledged the existence of Area 51 in declassified documents released years ago.

UFO Files Latest Update: What Pentagon UFO Files Revealed?

Unidentified aerial objects tracked by military radar, infrared sensors, and pilots over several decades
Multiple sightings of fast-moving objects performing sudden turns, hovering, and extreme-speed manoeuvres beyond known aircraft capability
Visual reports of glowing orbs, metallic discs, cigar-shaped objects, and star-like formations
Incidents where objects were detected but later vanished from radar or sensor systems without explanation
Witness accounts from military personnel, pilots, astronauts, and intelligence officers describing unusual aerial activity
Older FBI and defence records mentioning rare claims of humanoid figures near unidentified craft (unverified)
NASA/Apollo mission-related reports of unexplained lights and aerial phenomena near space missions and the Moon
Many cases remain officially “unresolved” due to insufficient data or unclear evidence quality
No confirmed proof of extraterrestrial life, alien contact, or alien technology
Officials suggest some sightings could be explained by drones, balloons, atmospheric effects, or sensor errors, but not all cases have clear explanations
Ongoing investigations and plans for further declassification of UAP records

Are UFOs Real?

The Pentagon said the files do not provide verified evidence of alien life or extraterrestrial technology. Officials warned that many sightings may eventually receive ordinary explanations linked to weather effects, drones, balloons or sensor distortions.

However, authorities acknowledged that several incidents remain unresolved even after detailed analysis, which continues fueling public debate around UFOs and unexplained aerial activity.

Apollo Moon Missions

The disclosure also included transcripts and images connected to NASA’s Apollo missions.

Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin reportedly described seeing “a fairly bright light source” near the Moon during a 1969 debriefing. Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean reported flashes of light and particles “sailing off into space.”

During Apollo 17, astronauts observed bright tumbling lights while a NASA image reportedly showed three unexplained lights in a triangular formation above the lunar surface. Pentagon analysts said there was “no consensus” about the anomaly.

Pentagon Promises More Transparency in UFO Files

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the release aimed to improve transparency after years of public pressure for disclosure. Officials confirmed that more files, videos and documents would be released in phases over the coming months through the Pentagon’s new UAP portal.

Lawmakers, including Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna, welcomed the move and called it a “first step” toward greater openness.

UFO Files Public Reaction: ‘What the Hell is Going On?’

Trump defended the disclosure by saying the public should decide for themselves what the files actually show. “In an effort for complete and maximum transparency… the people can decide for themselves, ‘what the hell is going on?’” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The release triggered mixed reactions online. Some UFO researchers praised the disclosure, while sceptics argued that several videos appeared blurry or were already publicly available.

UFO Files: What’s Next?

The Pentagon confirmed that additional batches of classified UFO material are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Officials said investigators will continue reviewing unresolved incidents while Congress pushes for further disclosures linked to military UAP programmes and intelligence records.

Even though the files stop short of proving extraterrestrial life, the release has reignited global interest in UFO sightings, Area 51 theories and decades-old questions about unexplained aerial phenomena.
