Sophie Wilde and Dave Franco are joining forces for the alien invasion thriller Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten. The film is based on a short story by Nick Antosca, the creator and showrunner behind Apple TV’s upcoming Cape Fear series starring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams. Production is scheduled for this summer.
The film follows Rob and Sabile, a young engaged couple who head to a secluded mountain resort to get married. What starts as a family wedding takes a hard turn when unexpected guests crash the ceremony.
Egor Abramenko, the director behind A24’s upcoming horror film Altar and the Russian sci-fi Sputnik, will direct from a script by Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins — the writing team behind Hulu’s Hellraiser and Searchlight and Anton’s The Night House.
Anton is fully financing the film and handling worldwide rights, with pre-sales continuing at Cannes. Domestic sales are being handled by Anton, Anonymous Content, and WME Independent.
Wilde has built a strong relationship with A24, starring in the box office breakouts Talk to Me and Babygirl. The BAFTA Rising Star nominee is also in post on two additional A24 projects — a horror film from Arkasha Stevenson and a Halloween-themed pic from Jeremy Saulnier. She is also set to appear in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger at Warner Bros. later this year.
Franco’s credits include Now You See Me and Together.
Additional casting is in process.
