UTICA, N.Y. — Changes in the New Jersey Devils front office are bringing new developments for the Utica Comets.
The Devils’ General Manager Sunny Mehta announced the team will not renew the contract of Assistant General Manager Dan MacKinnon, who also served as General Manager for the Comets.
MacKinnon joined the Devils organization in 2015 under former general manager Ray Shero. He played a key role in the Comets hiring former head coach Kevin Dineen in 2021 and oversaw a record-setting seven trades during the 2024-25 season.
There is no word yet on when a new general manager will be named for the Comets. 11 Comets players from 2025-26 will become free agents if they aren’t re-signed by the Devils when NHL free agency opens on July 1st.
