In a stalled collective bargaining dispute, the cabin crew union UFO and Lufthansa are seeking to resume dialogue. An externally moderated process regarding cooperation and mutual relations has been agreed upon, UFO announced on its website. Collective bargaining expert Harry Jäger stated on Wednesday, however, that he remains skeptical as to whether these talks, which do not target the disputed tariff issues, could lead to a rapprochement. Positions remain deeply entrenched. Lufthansa confirmed the agreement with UFO. It has not yet been determined who will mediate between the parties.

UFO has staged a total of four days of strikes this year following failed negotiations over a new framework collective agreement at Lufthansa and the rejection of a social plan for Cityline, which is currently being wound down. More than a thousand employees protested in mid-April near the corporate headquarters on the day of Lufthansa’s centenary celebrations.
