Comet Sports will face Police Sports in the final of the Premiership 2 Sunday League 50-over tournament after securing dominant wins in their respective semi-final fixtures on Sunday.
At Pierre Road, Comets crushed Caldrac by 186 runs in a rain-shortened 32-over contest. Led by a blistering 96 from Kissoondath Magram, Comets piled up an imposing 308 for seven. Veteran Denesh Ramdin struck 71, while Keegan Simmons added 65 in a commanding batting display.
Caldrac’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Ryan Hurley, Jevon George and Gabriel Blackwell all picking up two wickets apiece but conceding heavily.
In reply, Caldrac were bundled out for 122 in 19.3 overs. Hurley top-scored with 44, but Magram returned to complete a superb all-round effort with figures of four for 30. Rakesh Maharaj (3/40) and Alex Antoine (2/20) provided solid support as Comets sealed a comprehensive victory.
Over at Endeavour Ground, Police Sports produced a polished performance to defeat HSM Motors Endeavour Sports by eight wickets.
Endeavour were dismissed for 127 in 29 overs, on the back of an unbeaten 41 from Zion Brathwaite and 32 from Mikeal Sinanan. Police’s bowlers shared the spoils, with James Duncan (3/23) and Randy Narine (3/24) leading the charge, while Philton Williams chipped in with two for 18.
Police then made light work of the chase, cruising to 128 for two in just 18 overs. Brian Christmas anchored the innings with 67, while Musa Ali supported with 39.
The Premiership 2 Sunday League final will be played on Saturday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba from 10 a.m.
