The skies over Piedmont may not have revealed any visitors from another world, but the town was buzzing with excitement Friday and Saturday as the annual UFO Festival brought a wave of visitors, community events, and economic activity downtown.

Local business owners are calling the weekend a clear success, noting a strong turnout of out-of-towners who filled shops, restaurants, and event spaces throughout the celebration.

The festival featured a full schedule of activities centered around the Historical Society’s Luna Museum, where speakers presented both Friday and Saturday, drawing crowds interested in everything from unexplained phenomena to regional UFO lore. Over 300 people signed the guestbook at the event. Organizers said attendance was strong each day, with visitors traveling in from across Missouri and neighboring states.

Downtown businesses played a major role in the festivities by sponsoring a scavenger hunt designed to guide participants through local shops. The interactive event encouraged visitors to explore Piedmont’s storefronts looking for an alien in each participating location and engaging with merchants along the way. The Nature Cottage and G&J Exotics sponsored an Area 573—Piedmont Signal Investigation.
