In October 1967, two UK police constables, Roger Willie and Clifford Waycott, described an encounter while on night patrol near Okehampton in Devon.
At exactly 4:01am, they spotted a bright object roughly 400 yards ahead of them at treetop level. They described it as a brilliant white, cross-shaped object with blurred inner sections, similar to the points of a compass.
They attempted to follow it in their patrol car, but reported no sound coming from the object at all. As they got closer, it suddenly accelerated away with what they described as “terrific” acceleration.
Both officers said the object was clearly visible and not a misidentification. They also described the impression that they were being observed.
The sighting was reported immediately to Okehampton police station, and additional officers were sent out to the area.

One of the rare UFO stories I believe in. See, with British people, we don’t make stuff up like this. When it comes to the Americans, they tend to be unhinged.
