Some snail shells found on or in the structures were radiocarbon dated to around 12,900 years before present, that doesn’t mean the structures are 12,900 years old. What this does do is align with Austronesian settlement timelines in the region. Scientists do say this is man made, just not 12,900 years old.

Wow just went into a deep rabbit hole about New Caledonia and specifically the Isle of Pines!
It’s so gorgeous! Also called “the closest island to paradise”. I have never ever seen PINE TREES on a tropical beach! Its so beautiful
