The girls soccer team at Greenville High School has a 5-5 record after playing several games the last week.

Playing in the Litchfield Purple Panther Classic, the Lady Comets fell to Staunton, Breese Central and Hillsboro.

After a 6-0 loss to Staunton, the next two games were close.  Breese Central led 2-1 at halftime and neither team scored in the second half.  Emma Veith booted the GHS goal, with an assist from Haylee Hediger.  Maddie Beckert made seven saves in goal.

It was another 2-1 outcome against Hillsboro, after a scoreless first half.  Miley Matthews had the Lady Comets’ goal and Ada Jefferson was credited with an assist.  Beckert once again had seven saves as goal keeper.

In a regular season game on Tuesday, the Lady Comets lost to Staunton 9-1.  Matthews scored the goal with an assist from Tinley Walker.

The varsity GHS squad plays at Jerseyville Monday and hosts Gillespie on Tuesday.
