The recent photo of the Moonlit whole Earth is among the greatest photos from space ever obtained.

Here two exposures, one darker and one showing dim light details, were composited with interior reflections removed. This attempts to reconstruct a dark adapted visual impression.

Can’t believe there’s just “NASA (Artemis II) / Reid Wiseman / Don Davis” at the bottom of Earth that’s just undiscovered until now!!!

  2. Why was this rotated to have the North Pole more “up”? One of the coolest things about space is that our typical conceptions of “up” and “down” don’t apply anymore, and that’s evident in the original image

I wish it weren’t a composited image. I think it’s more impressive to see just an incredible straight from camera picture knowing that no editing has been done.

This is one of the best photo’s I’ve ever seen.
The sun is behind the Earth, the surface is lit only by the moon. You can see lights from cities and towns along thr coast lines, and you can see an aurora along the bottom as well as the thickness of the atmosphere all around the edge.
And because his ISO was turned right up, he also managed to get Venus in the shot.

  5. Not even 24 hours and it is already altered, reposted, cropped and lower quality lol

  6. Do you have the source? I want to download the original upload of this composition
