The archaeological evidence that humans brewed beer before they grew food, and what that tells us about why Göbekli Tepe was built

This flips the whole ‘agriculture first’ narrative on its head. If ritual and communal feasting not survival drove early settlement, then Göbekli Tepe makes complete sense as a gathering site rather than a residential one. People weren’t living there, they were coming there. The beer was the social glue that made large scale cooperation possible long before farming did.
