NASA Launches Artemis Astronauts on Journey to the MoonCrowds gathered near the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., on Wednesday to watch as NASA launched four astronauts on a 10-day journey that will go around the moon.

I drove eight hours from Carolina to be here with all of you. It’s such a beautiful event, and this event can bring this beautiful country together. I’ve been looking forward to this for, like, 10, 15 years. I’ve been following NASA. I’ve been following S.L.S., Artemis program. This is like a bucket list thing. I’ve always wanted to be here. And so to finally be here in Florida and to see it actually go off and not scrub, it’s incredible. In light of the way things are in the world right now, I think it’s a reminder that so many of us wanted to pause and see what’s happening, and that despite differences and challenges in the world, that we could all unite and celebrate this really incredible thing together.
