A Catastrophe Committed by the Ministry of Education!

The officials responsible for our students' history curricula must be held accountable. ☜

✦ Look at this: This is the history textbook 📚 for middle school children in California, USA.

✦ They are studying our history—the history of the Ancient Egyptians. A history that our own Egyptian children do not know and are never taught…

✦ In our Egyptian schools, the greatest catastrophe is being committed by the #Ministry_of_Education.

Our children’s history books 📚 teach the history of a people who are not ours, lands that are not our lands, ancestors who are not our ancestors, and an identity that is not our identity.

  1. Most history people learn in school are general knowledge, not in-depth study of the subject because there are a lot of subject to cover. If you want more in-depth history lesson, that stuffs are in university in the history department for people who actually interest in them.

Also what do you mean Egyptians don’t learn about Ancient Egyptians? I pretty sure they do. However that is only a small part of the history course that kids in public school learn. You do know that Egypt has other part of the history that they want to teach too and not just the ancient Egyptians part, right? Like the middle age stuffs or the modern age history.

  2. ThatEndingTho on

“Old Egyptian” history is covered under Social Studies in Egypt’s national curriculum.

So they do teach Egyptian children their history, but like a “mainstream narrative” history as you may say.

  3. To be frank, the history of Egypt is fascinating and had a pivotal in ancient world so it’s not a surprise that it’s taught wordwide.

I don’t know the Egyptian school curriculum and from your post it’s hard to tell what are you upset about. Does it mean that you don’t learn about your history at school?
What do you mean “teach the history of a people who are not ours, lands that are not our lands, ancestors who are not our ancestors, and an identity that is not our identity.”?
    Could you please elaborate?
