The Greenville baseball Comets scored seven runs in their final two innings at bat to win at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Sunday.

The Comets defeated St. Pious X, from near Festus, Missouri, by the score of 8-4.

The game officially ended after six innings due to the playing time curfew.

St. Pious X scored in the first inning, then the Comets tied it in the third frame.  GHS found itself trailing 4-1  after the Lancers batted in the fifth.

The Comets began their rally in the bottom of the fifth. Cannon Hamel and Rowdy Sussenbach ripped back-to back triples to start, then  two more runs knotted the score at 4-4.

Eight Comets stepped to the plate in the sixth.   Hamel drove in the go-ahead run with another hit, then the Comets scored three more times on wild pitches.

Time was running out, but the St. Pious half of the seventh was started.  The Lancers scored twice, but the time limit took effect, so the official score reverted back to what it was after the last complete inning, which was 8-4.

Drake Curry was the winning pitching, tossing six innings.  He struck out six. Christian Swalley pitched in the seventh.

The Comets totaled six hits.  Hamel had two, and Sussenbach, Dayton Oliver, Drake Graber singled.  Brock Riedemann doubled.

Scoring runs were Sussenbach, three; Hamel, two; and Trey Melton, Oliver, and Austin Swalley, one each.
