Take 2 tonight on Jupiter – went from f/6.3 to f/20!

This image was captured using my Nexstar 8SE scope, with my ASI533MC pro mounted to the back with a 2x barlow. I captured 5 different sequences of 2.5 minute videos in sharpcap, 280 gain 0.4ms exposures, picked the winner, stacked in Autostakkert and processed in registax 6. Did some finishing touches and color work in pixinsight and photoshop.

Planetary imaging had some challenges – focusing and plate solving at f/20 was absolute insanity compared to f/1.9 I am used to with the hyperstar, it was like lassoing Jupiter while it moved out of frame every 5-10 seconds. When I finally wrangled it and got phd2 running, the challenge was focus and trying to overcome the atmosphere to get something usable.

Can't wait to try this again someday – like when Saturn is in better position for us in the NH.
