As it turn out, Aliens: Fireteam Elite has been delisted from the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. The cloud title is no longer available to purchase on the console, and will become fully unplayable on August 5, 2026.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person survival shooter set in the Aliens universe, with the only Nintendo Switch release of the game being a cloud version. Since it’s 2023 launch, many users have reported experiencing harsh latency issues as cloud gaming doesn’t mesh well with the online multiplayer focus of the game. Now less than two years after the title’s release on Nintendo Switch, it has been unceremoniously removed from the eShop.

If you have purchased the software, you’ll be greeted by this message:

“Thank you for playing our game. We sincerely appreciate your support.

The game will be accessible until August 5, 2026, 23:59 JST. After that, you will no longer be able to access the game.

We apologize to our loyal customers for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding.

We hope you will continue to enjoy our other game titles.”

A couple of cloud titles from the original Switch have received full ports to the Nintendo Switch 2. We’ve seen it with the Hitman franchise, and some of the more recent Resident Evil games, but there is no word on whether Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. As far as we can tell though, the game will continue being supported on other platforms.

Cloud versions have always been more susceptible to delistings as they require an additional level of server maintenance, which becomes less and less justified as the game loses its initial popularity. This is one of the first cloud version delistings we’ve seen on Switch, but we are likely to see more in the future.
