Extraterrestrial enthusiasts believe aliens are becoming increasingly bold, with Cornwall emerging as a prime location for potential sightings.

UFO spotters are flocking to the South West in hopes of witnessing otherworldly phenomena, as the region has been identified as one of Britain’s leading hotspots for unusual aerial activity. With official Government data revealing a steady rise in reports of “unidentified objects” in our skies, this year could prove pivotal for those hoping for definitive proof of extraterrestrial life.

A recent Freedom of Information request submitted by the Daily Star revealed that the number of incident reports involving “unidentified” or “unusual” objects in British airspace has surged dramatically over recent years – prompting experts to reveal the most promising locations for sightings.

Data released by the UK Civil Aviation Authority shows that in January 2010 there was just a single incident recorded for the entire year, but figures have climbed steadily since, with specialists suggesting this indicates aliens are “getting braver”. Reports jumped from one or none annually to 14 in 2017, and have continued their upward trajectory, according to official records.

The latest statistics indicate there were 20 annual reports for 2023, 24 in 2024 and 19 sightings in 2025, though the actual figure for last year may be considerably higher as the CAA continues to compile reports.

The CAA classifies these as “Airprox or other aviation safety incident reports” involving objects described as unidentified, unknown, uncorrelated or unusual. These incidents are documented for official records, which were published at the beginning of the year. Experts now suggest the forthcoming dataset, scheduled for release at the end of 2026, will prove particularly noteworthy, reports the Daily Star.

Robert Pulme, a paranormal specialist who operates the National UFO Reporting Centre website, commented: “We are getting more spots than usual this year and reports are definitely up. We have seen a 10% increase on average month by month which suggests that aliens are possibly getting a bit braver.

“The world is in a mess what with threats of World War Three, Trump going on, and things seemingly on edge around the globe, so it makes sense for the skies to be on edge too. I imagine if they are watching, they are keeping a closer eye than ever on it. It is all really unsettled, so if another form of life is looking to communicate with us, either to work with us or against us, there is no better time to make an impact and get a hold of the planet than when things are unsteady.”

He also highlighted that one location has been particularly prominent for sightings.

“Cornwall is a top hub for reports at the moment,” he continued. “It is a good spot for views of the skies at the best of times. It is near the sea on a few sides, and there is not a lot of pollution in the air when you compare it to other parts of the UK, so maybe the aliens are everywhere, but this is just where we can see them best.

“I have had a lot of alien watchers head to the spot in recent months to try and get a glimpse. I don’t think it will be long before we catch a proper picture as proof really soon.”
