Oklahoma City Comets to welcome back fans for 2026 season with stadium enhancements

914 IS THE TIME. AND LOOKING AHEAD HERE, THE OKLAHOMA CITY COMETS ARE GEARING UP FOR OPENING WEEKEND. ALL THE ACTION STARTS ON FRIDAY, AND FIREWORKS. SUCH A FUN TIME THERE AT THE CHICKASAW BALLPARK. THIS MORNING, WE’RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE UPCOMING SEASON AND ALL THE FUN SURPRISES AHEAD. SO LET’S WELCOME IN GENERAL MANAGER KYLE DOHERTY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE, KYLE. THANKS. I’M EXCITED TO BE HERE. HOW EXCITED ARE YOU FOR THIS SEASON AND WHAT MAKES THIS SEASON SO SPECIAL TOO FOR THE COMETS? WELL, JUST BRINGING BASEBALL BACK. I THINK HAVING THE SPRING AND THE EXCITEMENT OF GETTING INTO THE SUMMER IS SO MUCH FUN. AND OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE SUCH A GREAT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS. THEY HAVE ONE OF THE TOP FARM SYSTEMS IN ALL OF MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL. AND SO TO WELCOME GREAT BASEBALL BACK TO OKLAHOMA CITY IS SO MUCH FUN. YEAH, NOTHING LIKE SPRING BALL HERE. WANT TO TALK NOW ABOUT THE GAMES THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO LOOK AHEAD TO HERE STARTING ON FRIDAY. SO KIND OF JUST WALK PEOPLE THROUGH THE DAYS AND TIMES FOR THE GAMES STARTING AGAIN ON FRIDAY. SO WE’LL PLAY AT FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7:00. FIRST PITCH, WE’LL HAVE ALL OF OUR OPENING WEEKEND FESTIVITIES STARTING LEADING UP TO THE GAME. FANS WILL HAVE FIRST THOUSAND FANS WILL GET AN OKC COMETS BASEBALL HAT AS THEY ENTER ON FRIDAY. AND THEN WE’LL ROLL RIGHT INTO SATURDAY. WE’LL HAVE A 6:00 GAME. SHOULD BE GREAT WEATHER, AND THEN SUNDAY WE’LL CAP IT OFF WITH A MATINEE GAME AT 2:00. AND I’M GLAD THAT YOU KIND OF TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SOME OF THE GIVEAWAYS THAT FANS CAN EXPECT TO SEE ONCE THEY GO DOWN TO THE BALLPARK THIS WEEKEND. WHAT ELSE DO FANS HAVE, YOU KNOW TO LOOK AHEAD TO WHEN WE TALK ABOUT OPENING WEEKEND? BECAUSE THERE’S FIREWORKS. YOU TALKED ABOUT THE 1000 BALL CAPS FOR THE FIRST FEW FANS THERE, BUT WHAT ELSE? YEP. SO I THINK IT’S GOING BACK TO THE BASEBALL SIDE. WE’RE WELCOMING BACK RYAN WARD WHO WAS THE PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE MVP. HE’S GOING TO BE STARTING ON OUR ROSTER TO START THE YEAR. HOPEFULLY WE CAN KEEP HIM FOR A LITTLE BIT BEFORE HE GETS CALLED UP. BUT THEN WE ALSO HAVE HEY SUNG KIM, WHO IS WITH THE THE DODGERS THROUGHOUT THEIR THEIR WORLD SERIES RUN LAST YEAR. AND SO A LOT OF GREAT PLAYERS. BUT THEN WE’VE PUT A TON OF RENOVATIONS INTO THE BALLPARK THIS OFFSEASON. NEARLY $150,000 IN RENOVATIONS TO TO CONTINUE TO MODERNIZE THE FACILITY. IT’S IT’S COMING UP ON ALMOST BEING A 30 YEAR OLD BALLPARK IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS. AND SO REDID ALL OF OUR AUDIO VISUAL REALLY JUST TO ENHANCE THAT FAN EXPERIENCE AS THEY’RE COMING BACK TO THE BALLPARK THIS YEAR. OKAY, SO 30 YEARS FOR THE BALLPARK, BUT DEFINITELY MAKING IT FEEL LIKE IT IS A MODERN DAY EXPERIENCE. I WANT TO TALK MORE ABOUT THE FAN EXPERIENCE HERE FOR FAMILIES AND FANS AT HOME WATCHING RIGHT NOW, WHAT CAN THEY EXPECT WHEN IT COMES TO THE PREGAME EXPERIENCE? BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOME REALLY UNIQUE CHANCES TO, YOU KNOW, HAVE THAT ONE ON ONE TIME WITH PLAYERS, RIGHT? YEP. SO SO WE’LL HAVE THE ABILITY TO COME OUT. YOU CAN HOPEFULLY CATCH SOME SOME BATTING PRACTICE AS GATES ARE OPENING. BUT THEN ON SUNDAY WE’RE GOING TO HAVE PLAYER AUTOGRAPHS PREGAME AS WELL AS KIDS RUN THE BASES FOLLOWING THE GAME. SO A LOT OF FUN WAYS WHERE YOU CAN HAVE KIND OF THAT INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE WITH WITH THE PLAYERS AND THE BALLPARK. OH MY GOODNESS. AND AGAIN, SUCH A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE THERE AT THE BALLPARK. LAST QUESTION FOR YOU BEFORE WE LET YOU GO JUST ONE LAST TIME FOR PEOPLE WATCHING RIGHT NOW, THE DAYS, TIMES FOR THE GAMES AND ALSO WHERE ONLINE CAN THEY KEEP UP? IF THERE’S ANY UPDATES BEFORE OPENING NIGHT, ALWAYS KEEP UPDATED AT OKC COMMENTS.COM. GAMES WILL BE FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7:00, SATURDAY AT 6:00, FIRST PITCH AND THEN SUNDAY AT 2:00. FIRST PITCH. WHAT WOULD YOU TELL FANS AHEAD OF OPENING NIGHT? SHOULD THEY GET THERE EARLY? YEP, GET THERE A LITTLE EARLY. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SOME SOME FESTIVITIES. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SOME ALL INTRODUCING ALL OF OUR PLAYERS WITH SOME SOME CODE SPARK AND SOME OF THOSE THINGS, BUT THEN STICK AROUND ALL THE WAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT BECAUSE WE HAVE FIREWORKS TO, TO FINISH OUT THE NIGHT. AND I’M SURE IT’S GOING TO BE A BUSY NIGHT DOWN THERE AT THE BALLPARK. SO EXCITING TO HAVE YOU ON. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
